Growing Up

As part of Hazel's second birthday present, I had the idea to brighten up her room a bit. She still has the same "under the sea" room that we put together for her before she was born, but she's quickly growing into a little girl and needs a change. I believe with an accent wall, change of bed sheets and curtains, her room will transform!

My mom had the idea to move her seashell name to the space above her closet so we can get a pretty piece of wall art that will brighten up her room as well. After searching through different pictures, I decided on this one.

These coral pictures are so pretty and fits everything about her room perfectly! After seeing this picture, I started thinking of an accent wall color. I found a few different colors that I thought maybe would be pretty. There were two Benjamin Moore colors, Peach Cloud and Sunlit Coral. Based on how the Peach Cloud looked on my computer, I thought that would be the winner. I went to Lowe's and bought samples of those two and Peach Kiss, a Lowe's Valspar color. I was also trying to base the colors off of the Pillowfort color scheme from Target since Hazel has the mirror, a pillow, and clothes hamper all from the Pillowfort brand. There's a mint type color, very bright coral, lighter peach, mustard, and navy, as you can see from the mirror.

The top is Peach Kiss, bottom left is Peach Cloud, and right is Sunlit Coral. When I first painted them, Peach Cloud was right off the bat too pink and I wasn't crazy about the Peach Kiss. Sunlit Coral was the winner. This picture was the next day in evening light and completely dry. THEY ALL CHANGED. Peach Cloud and Sunlit Coral were both TOO pink and turns out I LOVE the Peach Kiss.

Peach Kiss for the WIN!

These are some of the sheets I was thinking about getting her. She currently has white sheets with teal colored anchors and another that's grey with white arrows, so we're just looking for something a little brighter and girlier. She also has very dark navy curtains so we're changing those too. I found the perfect color at Home Goods!

Lastly, I was going to get her a different blanket. The teal anchor sheets she has right now came with a quilt that's very cute but makes the room a little too boyish now that she's getting older, and again, too dark.

This is what she currently has, which again is adorable, but she's growing up. TOO FAST. She doesn't use the quilt to cover up at night, but she likes to just sleep on it for extra comfort. I haven't quite looked into other quilts yet for her, but it'll go along with that Pillowfort color theme. Maybe a mustard color would be cute, or mint. If y'all have any thoughts on a new blanket drop them in the comments!

I'm hoping to get everything done before her birthday so we can show her the finished product by then.

Who else is excited for this transformation?!
