Day 10: Your Best Friend

Your Best Friend

People gravitate towards other people. It's human nature. It may be towards someone who has a similar personality, or similar likings or disliking, or it may be towards someone complete opposite. After all, opposites attract.

I couldn't imagine going through life without friends. Especially now more than ever we need our friends. Don't forget about them if you have to quarantine and/or social distance. Technology nowadays is a beautiful things to keep people together.

Friends are important to ones physical and emotional health. The truest of friends will be honest and truthful even if it hurts because they love you. They make sure you're happy and help with a good laugh, but they're also there through stressful times and offer a shoulder to cry on. I couldn't be more thankful to my friends to help get me through those times.

But what about those best friends?

They're the ones you can tell that one extra secret to, the one you can't do ANYTHING without. The best friend knows every good thing and every bad thing about you, but still you can be yourself. They're the ones that you can feel completely comfortable with. You share countless memories, sleepovers, and inside jokes that only each other will understand.

One of my best friends is Kelsey. I've known her since kindergarten and, oh, let me tell you the story. This is the one story her mom never gets tired of sharing, but it's also one I never get tired of hearing.

I had just recently moved to FL when I was five or six years old. I think it was the first day of school and my mom had just dropped me off. According to Kelsey's mom I was crying after my mom left so she told Kelsey to come over to me and make friends. Well, the rest is history. Kelsey has been there through it all and we'll always be there for each other.

Some people may have one best friend, but I get the grace of having two and I'm so thankful for that. My other best friend, Katie, lives in NH, but we still make it appoint to call, FaceTime, and text each other as much as we possibly can.

The first day we met was at Vet Tech school orientation. Both of our moms were there with us and the only moms to go to the program's orientation. So, of course, they got talking and we ended up sitting together in the classroom during orientation. The moms continued to talk after orientation was over and we went on to having lunch together.

This relationship moved quite fast, I know.

The next thing I remember is my mom mentioning that we had been looking for an apartment for myself so I didn't have such a long commute to school and obviously Katie was looking for one too since she lived in NH.

What do you think happened next?

Katie became not only the best roommate ever, but my best friend. We've shared and will continue to share so many memories. My hope is to live closer one of these days because long distance relationships (even a best friend relationship) is not easy.

I love you both so dearly!

Tomorrow:

Talk about your siblings
