Write About Love

Oh the "L" word. It's a very strong emotion, a short four letter, but very powerful word. People fall in love or, sadly, even out of love every day. Everybody loves something or someone. It's that one step further past "like" to a deeper more meaningful connection. It's the word that makes someone feel all giddy and gets the butterflies going when it's said for the first time to someone.

And, yes, love can be scary to feel that deeply for someone. It can be a love so deep one wouldn't think possible for a single human. People will go above and beyond for the people they love. You know the saying of jumping in front of a bullet or speeding train for someone? I don't know about you, but that's pretty scary to me.

Love can also be complicated. Like I've mentioned in an earlier post, the love someone has for one thing or a person may not be the same love they feel for something or someone else. But, aside from the complication, intimacy, passion, affection, and every other word or feeling we think of that's associated with "love", it's also fun! We go out to eat or to concerts, we dance with each other, we make jokes, and laugh. Love doesn't always have to be this serious word that some are scared of, or hope for, or fantasize about. It can just be fun!

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8

I only hope that I can show my kids one day the same unconditional love that my mother has shown my sister and me. Even through the hard times, or when we weren't always perfect angels of kids, her love never failed.
