Life Gets in the Way

We all know this, right?

I don't even know how long it's been since I've written in my blog. I'm pretty sure I started the 30 day writing challenge in October?

Well, clearly I failed that challenge. I got to day 26, I believe, then quit. I mean, I guess I wouldn't say quit, but more that life got in the way. It was November 15th (yes, I marked it on my calendar) that I saw a positive pregnancy test sitting on my bathroom counter. I couldn't believe it!!

And yes, it's taken me this long to write about my pregnancy because again...

LIFE.

Ever since maybe week 6 my pregnancy was hell. Morning sickness that ended me in the hospital in my first trimester, hemorrhoids (sorry TMI), and a four day virus that ended me in the hospital in my second trimester. I tried home remedy after remedy to figure out how to stop the vomiting, then finally had to turn to prescription Diclegis, Zofran and even suppositories. It was awful. I will say this third trimester has been much better. I discovered that a tablet of Unisom at night was my answer. Has the morning sickness completely gone away? No. But, the mornings I throw up now are few and far between. Now I'm just dealing with end of pregnancy symptoms like edema in my hands and feet and having to pee literally every hour, but I'll take that over having to hover my head above the toilet all day any day.

Oh and dear lord the cravings! In my first and second trimester, the cravings were REAL.

CHEESE!! and CARBS!! That was all I ever wanted. So you can image I ate a ton of Mac n cheese.

By the end of my second trimester the cravings pretty much went away.

I also had a wonderful baby shower two weekends ago at 32 weeks. I loved seeing some old friends and family that came from out of state.

Now here I sit at almost 34 weeks and just ready to meet my little bean!!

OMG! How could I never say the gender?!

Well, it's a girl! Her name is Hazel Elizabeth. The first name comes from my husband's dad's mom and the middle name is my mom's middle name. We absolutely adore the name.

My due date is July 27th so we'll see how close I get! My appointments are pretty much every week now and so far everything has been good and baby Hazel is measuring on time. I guess we'll see if anything has changed next Wednesday at my next appointment!
