The Right Idea But the Wrong Shade

When we saw our new house the first couple times we thought we would keep the paint and just move right in, but after much thought I decided to change the gray like I've mentioned in an earlier post.
BUT! Now we are repainting the entire house.
They had the right idea but the colors were too dark. Everything is the wrong shade. The gray is too dark, the lighter blue is too dark, and the darker blue...too dark.
In my previous post I talked about the Benjamin Moore Gray Owl color and it's beautiful!! Completely changed the look of the interior and brightened up the house SO much. It's mainly done in the living room, we just need to get an extension ladder and cut in the ceiling. The picture doesn't even know half of what we got done.

Look at that difference! It goes a lot better with those floors too, which I love.
I also have been working on the trim today. All throughout the house the trim is gross, brown, and paint/wood itself is peeling off in some places. I started in our bedroom, but the baseboards and door frames will all be repainted. This photo still shows that dark gray in the bedroom. It will also be repainted to Gray Owl.
That first picture shows how gross looking it was and it wasn't pure white. What I used was Valspar Signature Ultra White Semi-gloss that can be used as is or tinted. It's not specifically for trim like some others are, but it still works. Found at Lowe's for $40.

There were some other Valspar options, but the reviews were horrible so make sure you read if you plan on painting your trim! I plan on using this same paint to paint the interior doors as well so it's all the same white.
After debating with my mom I came up with a new plan for the kitchen and I'm so excited to share it with y'all. I promise once I start on the bathroom and kitchen there will be pictures and posts about them too, but for now I'll just tell you.
So, originally I wanted to do the kitchen cabinets the Sea Salt, but I realized that color won't work with the kitchen walls. They're currently a lighter blue (but still too dark). I'll show a picture soon.
I've decided to paint the cabinets white and still do the dark pulls. Say this, for example, and the walls are now going to be Sea Salt.

Pretty, right?!
I'm very excited to do this.
The outside walls of the kitchen are also the lighter-too-dark blue so I'm painting that Agreeable Gray.

So, Sea Salt IN the kitchen with white cabinets and dark pulls. Agreeable Gray on the OUTSIDE walls of the kitchen and Gray Owl everywhere else.
It's going to be PERFECT!
Also....the winning color for the front door is.......
YELLOW!
I love the coral option, but Jared....I'll just say doesn't.
Stay tuned to my blog! Starting October 1st, I'm doing the 30 Day Writing Challenge so there will be a new post every day at 9:00 AM EST. Set an alarm, save my blog to your favs, subscribe, and have fun!
I will still try to post fun things about the house in between the writing challenge post, but I'll let you know if I do so y'all don't miss them.
Happy blogging!
